In order to create new, lasting, habits you must believe in change. Believe in your ability to move through the process of creating a new behavior, decide on the steps you will take, and visualize yourself being successful.
There are two key components for change to happen in your life:
Believing in the process and that change is a possibility. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but using positive self-talk is very important in this process. Tell yourself repeatedly that you CAN do it and that it's okay to fail occasionally, so you can start again without getting discouraged.
Having a strong support system. Reach out to a local CHADD (Children & Adults with ADD) group, hire a coach, talk to your friends and family - however you can build an accountability system. Seek out people who won’t judge you, who understand you, who want what is in your best interest, and who will support you. Connection goes a long way to achieving change.
Desiring change, choosing a small area to start creating a new habit, believing that it’s possible and setting up a strong accountability system - these are the initial steps that will lead you to build lasting habits!
“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their
minds cannot change anything.” -George Bernard Shaw
