With so many things constantly popping up in life, it’s hard to know what to focus on, especially if you have trouble focusing in the first place.

If you listen to Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast, you have often heard us talk about the benefits of mindful meditation to combat emotional storms and bring focus back.

What is mindful meditation?

The Mayo Clinic defines mindfulness this way:

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.

The practice of mindfulness is just that— practice.

Don’t expect yourself to be able to maintain focus 100% of the time. The idea is to continue to guide yourself back to the present and see yourself and your surroundings as they are, without judgement.

Where do I start?

No matter what app, program or method you choose to use, the benefits of practicing mindfulness regularly are worth it!

Thanks for your time and attention,

-Nikki
