Fun: It's Not Just For Kids

"I'm an adult. I can't do that!"

Have you ever had a thought like that before?

I know I've been guilty of similar thoughts since becoming an adult.

For some reason, becoming a "grown up" tends to mean there is less fun in our lives. But, inside, that kind of makes me want to sit down and throw a bit of a tantrum, “That’s not fair! Why can’t we have fun as adults?”

But, that's just it—we can have fun! We can have as much fun as we want. There is no rule that says every day has to be boring and hard.

Life can certainly still be hard, and being an adult comes with a lot of things you don't want to do, but YOU choose how you approach every day and every thing.

It's mind over matter

You have the power to make each day fun. You have a million opportunities to approach work and life in a way that brings you joy.

It's not always easy—especially when it comes to those dreaded avoided tasks—but it's most definitely possible.

The trick is to learn how to begin to change your mindset. When you approach a task or event that would normally cause you stress, anxiety, or have you looking for the nearest exit, this is where you can ask yourself, "how can I make this fun or less stressful?" This is where your naturally creative ADHD brain comes in to find new, fun solutions to these old problems.

It's your turn!

How can you take a dreaded chore or boring activity and infuse a little fun? You might be surprised at how much better you feel about those things and about your whole day when you're having a good time along the way.

Go play!

Thank you for your time and attention,

Nikki
