5 Tips for ADHD Families
Families take work.
Whether you’re a family of 2 or a family of 8, it takes a lot of work to keep the train on the tracks.
Recently on Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast, Pete and I took listener submissions about how you keep your family running smoothly. We got so many great submissions, that I thought we could keep the submissions coming with a few more.
Here are a few tips for families:
Spend one-on-one time with each of your kids
While kids with ADHD may need extra attention, it can be easy to forget to spend one-on-one time with all of your children, whether they have ADHD or not.
Ask for help
It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Consider hiring a cleaning person to come in once in a while to help take some of the load off.
Automate your life
Technology is a great tool to help run your family. Grocery stores and companies like Amazon allow you to automate purchases to be sent right to your door, saving you time and ensuring you don’t forget anything on your list.
Post schedules
Keep your family on track by keeping schedules posted in easy-to-see areas.
Remember to take care of yourself.
If you are head-of-the-household, it can be exhausting trying to keep everything running smoothly. Remember to take time for yourself so you’re at your best when everyone else needs you.
