Find a New "Perfect"
They say “practice makes perfect”.
What does it mean to be “perfect”?
The dictionary has this to say:
make (something) completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.
When is the last time you did something that was “completely free from faults or defects”?
While it’s admirable to want to do the absolute best, sometimes we keep spinning our wheels on the same task, hoping to get to that label of “perfect”.
Often we will get pushed into inaction because we can’t let go of the prospect of perfect, when good enough is just as acceptable.
Don’t let the idea of “perfect” keep you from reaching your goals.
To start moving forward again, ask yourself where this ideal for perfection comes from. Is it from you, or is there someone or something else that’s pushing you?
Once you’ve identified the driving factor, ask yourself how important it is to reach perfection in a given situation. Is “perfect” even attainable?
Most often, you may find that perfect isn’t practical.
It may be time to reset your idea of what perfect means in any given situation and start moving toward that new goal.
Where are you striving for perfection today? How can you rewrite your definition of perfection to help you move from inaction to action?
Thank you for your time and attention,
