Finding The Right Place To Work
Is This The Right Job?
To find the right place to work, you have to do some research on potential employers and job opportunities. In the post, Is it time to look for a new job?, I shared a few questions to ask a future employer in the interview.
What else can you do?
Do What You Love
Every job has pros and cons, but when you find the right environment and love the work you do, the cons don’t seem to have as much power.
Highlight Your Strengths
Understand your strengths and focus on making them a bigger part of the job. If you’re not sure what your strengths are, please sign up for the 7 Day Strength Finder.
Engage in Positive Relationships
Whether you tell your employer or co-workers you have ADHD is a very personal decision. Regardless, having positive relationships will make any work environment more enjoyable.
Make Your Own Accommodations
Use your ADHD strategies to come up with your own accommodations. For example, if you are starting to lose focus on a project, get up and take a little walk around the building. If you are late to work, review your morning routine to figure out where you can add 15 minutes. Review meeting notes with a supervisor or a co-worker to make sure you got the important details.
Thank you for your time and attention.
