Personalizing Your ADHD Strategies

What does this mean for you?

If you need help navigating your ADHD, there are a million resources to do it. You can do a google search, read a blog post, read a book, or listen to a podcast.

You’re here, right now on my blog, looking for something!

I love writing and talking about ADHD, it’s why I have a blog post and a podcast. I love sharing ideas on what works and what doesn’t in my coaching groups and on the community boards through discord.

However, there is one issue that’s not always discussed…

Just because one strategy worked for someone else, doesn’t mean it will work for you.

This is surprising when it happens and can lead you down a spiral of shame.

  • “It’s supposed to be ADHD Friendly, something must be wrong with me.”

  • “I can’t do anything right, nothing will ever change.”

Everyone is different in the way they process information and how they like to work. It’s not fair to compare yourself to anyone this includes someone else with ADHD.

Take a strategy that resonates with you and practice it. Let go of any judgement you may have about the outcome. This in itself is difficult to do but you can do it.

Here are a few questions to get you thinking about how to mold the strategy for you!

  1. What’s the problem you are trying to solve?

  2. How does this strategy address the issue?

  3. What do you hope as an outcome?

  4. What do you see could wrong with this strategy?

  5. Any ideas up front how to tweak before starting?

After you practice the strategy, ask these questions…

  1. How did the strategy help?

  2. What needs to stay the same?

  3. What needs to change?

  4. Is it worth your effort to keep practicing?

When practicing a new strategy, it’s all about figuring out what works best for you!

Thank you for your time and attention.
