Tell Your Story

“…human beings are the only species that tell stories and then live by the stories we tell—we are creating our own reality at every moment.”

The quote above was shared by Erik “Doc” Anderson during a recent episode of Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast.

Doc is an ADHD coach who encourages his clients to be the hero of their own life story.

What Is A Hero?

In literature, the hero is defined as the main character of the story; the person who the story is about.

Many times we may find ourselves sitting in the background of our own lives; watching the other characters live around us while we don’t do much in the way of moving along our own story.

This can be frustrating and disappointing, but it doesn’t have to be this way!

Be the Hero

The best part of being the hero of your own story is that you get to decide what happens next!

Being the “hero” doesn’t have to mean slaying the dragon or saving the princess. What it does mean is that you are the center of your own story. You’re moving the narrative forward toward your own goals.

I would encourage you to take some time to reflect on how you can be the hero in your own life story. Write down some of your goals and some ways you can reach those goals. Then start living out your story!

Thank you for your time and attention,

-Nikki
