Setting Realistic Expectations For Change

The importance of starting small!

The New Year is often a time that people think of new beginnings. Resolutions are set, gym memberships are bought, and the healthy grocery store is particularly busy that first week in January.

However, the reality is, January 1st is just like any other day. We all get 24 hours in the day and most of those hours have already been predetermined. I don’t point this out to be a downer, I point it out to be realistic.

Now, I may not be a fan of New Year Resolutions, but I am a fan of self-growth, anytime of the year.

I love working with ADHD clients to discover what’s working and what’s not working when it comes to navigating their ADHD.

We know if we do the same things over again, we get the same results. In order for our habits and behaviors to be different, we have to do something different.

Change requires action.

However, a mistake that we all make is we try to change too much at one time.

This is why it’s important we start small.

It doesn’t mean that you don’t create a vision for what you want, please do. Know what you want and why you want it and then start to break your goals down.

Breaking it down means to look at your goals and practice one small change. Once, that small change becomes a habit, then start with the second change. When you are ready, they will add up to what you wanted to accomplish!

Thank you for your time and attention.
