Top 4 Email Take-Aways

The best tips to tackle your email—before you even hit the inbox!

Email.

Somehow, such a small word can strike fear and anger into the hearts of ADHD’ers. From overflowing inboxes to too many folders, it can be overwhelming to find the best place to start getting your email under control.

We have covered the topic of email several times on Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast. In the past we have talked about the latest software and trends to help take your email game to the next level.

But what if you’re not even sure how to get to the first level?

Here are 4 take-aways you can use to help you get started:

Take Stock

Before you even begin, take a moment to ask yourself a few questions:

  • What do you want your email to do?

  • What’s the most important thing you want to accomplish with email?

  • What about your email is bothering you the most?

Once you answer these questions you can begin to move forward.

Take Time

If getting your email under control is important to you, you will need to set aside time in your schedule to spend on this project. This may include taking time to familiarize yourself with the special features your email client offers that will help reach your goal.

Take Action

Once you’ve done the prep work, it’s time to put what you know and what you’ve learned into action!

Take Care

Getting control of your email may not be an easy fix. It’s best to not get down on yourself for where you started, but look forward to where you’re going!

Regardless of where you start or where you finish—you are not alone! Many of us have struggled and may continue to struggle with email upkeep. The most important part of email management is that you keep trying!
